I was born to entertain: Ranveer Singh

Actor Ranveer Singh, whose latest release "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl" has received rave reviews, believes that he was born to entertain and won't mind performing live if it makes others happy.

"Deep down in my heart I would like to believe that I am born to entertain people. So I am most happy that I am able to cap off such a wonderful year doing exactly what I love doing the most, which is performing," he said at a press conference held here for Aamby Valley's annual New Year bash Glitterati 2012.

"If I can make even one person's New Year special by performing, then it will give me immense amount of satisfaction," he added.

Reflecting on 2011, Ranveer, 26, calls it the best year of his life.

"2011 has been the biggest learning curve of my life. What I learned in the past one year, I have not learned cumulatively all my life - the number of things that I have done for the first time in the past year, the number of people I have met," said Ranveer, who struck stardom with his very fist film "Band Baaja Baaraat" in 2010.

He talked about his growth as an actor and said: "My growth as an artist and as a person has been high at a very rapid pace in the past one year. It's been a fantastic year for me." Ranveer plays a conman in his latest film "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl".

Ranveer has also signed "Lootera" opposite Sonakshi Sinha, which is being produced by "Phantom", a production house jointly started by Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Ranveer to woo Sonakshi with Dev Anand's songs

Dev Anand lives again! In the soon-to-start-shooting of Rs.60 crore action-adventure "Lootera", Ranveer Singh would reportedly be shown wooing Sonakshi Sinha with some of the Evergreen star's hit numbers, including "Khoya khoya chand", "Tere mere sapne" and "Yeh dil na hota bechara".

Producer Madhu Mantena, who was associated with HMV-Saregama, will apply for the rights of Dev Anand melodies. These, say a source, would not be applied to the film in any random fashion. The songs would be filmed keeping the mood and tempo and flavour of the original sequences, and no tampering to the core of the compositions or their screen interpretations at all.

Apparently, director Vikramaditya Motwane would shoot the songs in black-and-white.

Ranveer, a huge Dev Anand fan, would be shown as a Dev Anand fan in the film, sporting the same hairstyle, clothes, attitude and of course the songs.

When we asked producer Mantena about the Dev Anand influence on "Lootera", he said, "We're most certainly going all-out to get the mood right. Beyond that it would be premature to reveal our exact plans. Vikramaditya would be the best person to throw light on how Ranveer's character will be presented in 'Lootera'."

While Motwane remained tight-lipped, Ranveer did mention, " 'Lootera' is the only film that I've signed after 'Ladies Vs Ricky Behl'. Of course, there's a huge amount of preparation involved. Though the film is set in Kolkata, I don't play a Bengali."

After conman, Ranveer is all set to play a swashbuckling hero in the 1950s film. And to get into the vintage mood, Ranveer has reportedly asked the makers of "Lootera" to grant him time to understand the period, and that includes studying cinema and songs of Dev Anand.

Meanwhile, recreating West Bengal of the 1950s for "Lootera" is proving to be a far more expensive affair than the producers had bargained for.

'Dostana 2' script locked, boys are back: Karan Johar

The script of the sequel to his 2008 film "Dostana" is locked and the movie is ready to go on the floors in 2012, with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham back in the frame, informs filmmaker Karan Johar.

"DOSTANA 2 is definitely starting next year....Script is locked...Abhishek and John are ready!!! The boys are back!! Tarun (director Tarun Mansukhani) is all set....," Johar posted on his Twitter page.

The original, youthful romantic comedy, about three friends, featuring Priyanka Chopra in the female lead, was a blockbuster.

The boys are the same for the sequel, but for Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka as the female lead.

Vidya happy with the response to 'The Dirty Picture'

Vidya Balan is overwhelmed by the kind of response she has received for "The Dirty Picture", and is glad that even her parents did not find anything vulgar or cheap in her portrayal of a sex symbol.

"I am feeling great. I am thankful to god as the film has got such a good opening. I got to know it has got 100 percent occupancy in single screen cinemas and 80-90 percent in multiplexes. I have just seen the reaction of people inside the theatre and I didn't even know what to say. There have been certain reviews which are very positive and encouraging," Vidya said after watching the film in a theatre here.

Vidya is particularly happy with her parents' reaction.

"My dad and mom said this film has nothing vulgar or cheap. They said they are proud of me as I have brought so much grace and dignity. I think whatever compliments I will get after this will be like bonus. That's the best compliment," she said.

The film has been directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Balaji Productions. It also features Naseeruddin Shah, Emran Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor.

Not selling Beti B's pictures: Big B

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has denied reports he is planning to sell pictures of his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya's first child.

"Media trying to build up story of sale of baby picture...ha ha ha ... good try media, it will never happen...," Amitabh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, following reports that the family will follow Hollywood's trend of selling baby pictures.

Aishwarya gave birth to a baby girl Nov 16, and the Bachchan's brought the daughter home Nov 22.

The family is yet to decide on a name for its bundle of joy.

Ranveer admits being conman in real life too

Ranveer Singh is ready with his second film "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl", in which he plays a conman and dupes girls. The actor says that he is the same in real life too.

"Many, many girls, but it's not that I have not been on the receiving end. As many girls as I have duped, I have been duped as well. So, I know how it feels to be on the other side," Ranveer said while promoting the film at Radio Mirchi studios.

"All this happens in boys vs girls, male vs female... in interpersonal interactions it keeps happening. Sometimes you 'thago' a girl and sometimes she does. In the matters of heart, everything is fair," added the 26-year-old who debuted with "Band Baaja Baaraat".

Anushka Sharma, who worked with Ranveer in his debut film, feels her co-star's charming ways help him in having his way with the girls, both in reel and real life.

"He is very charming no doubt, so it's easy if he wants to. He is quite naughty...he is 26 and he has tasted so much love and stardom. I think this is his time to enjoy and take in all the female attention and laugh it all up. In the film, he is making most of that I guess," said the 23-year-old actress who tasted success with her very first film "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi".

Directed by Maneesh Sharma, "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl" will Dec 9 and it also features Dippanita Sharma, Parineeti Chopra and Aditi Sharma.

The film is believed to be inspired by 2006 Hollywood hit "John Tucker Must Die".

Madhavan expresses his view on kissing Kangna

Madhavan had a kissing scene with actress Kangna Ranaut in their upcoming movie Tanu Weds Manu. However, Madhavan doesn’t seem to like talking about it and denies it.


Madhavan essays the role of an NRI named Manu looking for a suitable bride in India and he comes across Kangna who plays the role of Tanu. Manu immediately falls in love with Tanu and wishes to marry her but, Tanu is not interested.

According to the buzz Madhavan kissed Kangna in the flick but he prefers not to disclose about it by saying, "I have not kissed in the movie".

The director of the movie Aanand L Rai has a different story to tell as he said, "The sweetness of the scene required to be justified with a kiss. It's a funny romantic situation, where Manu falls for Tanu and wants to marry her."

After kissing co-star Vidya Balan of Guru, Madhavan said that he is never going to shoot for an onscreen kiss and that might be the reason of Madhavan’s denial.

No honeymoon for Imran Khan as of now

Everyone is aware that Bollywood’s new jodi Imran Khan and Avantila Malik tied the knot last month. Even there was a reception bash that Imran’s Mamu Aamir throwed in for the newly weds off late. But the news that came in suggested that Imran Khan has no plans for honeymoon in coming months.

The story goes like this; Imran is currently working on two projects namely Short term Shaadi for Dharma Productions and Meri brother Ki Dulhan for Yashraj films. So Imran is busy attending both the shoots. The actor is in such busy that even he had to squeeze out sometime from his busy schedule to perform at filmfare awards night. It was evident when he cracked a joke on Katrina during awards night to which Katrina responded “Imran, tomorrow we have a shoot at 11 in the morning”. Poor lad, he had to go out early next day after hosting the star studded ceremony till eleven in the night.

So as of now there is work for the Khan to perform and if the work happens to be from two prestigious banners who would not postpone his honeymoon plans.

Professionalism of Hrithik Roshan

Multimania99 has earlier reported that Hrithk Roshan went on a stretch of 17 hours to shoot a promo for his upcoming foray into small screen, a dance based reality show titled “So you think you can dance”. The actor went on to shoot for it even though he had a muscle tear.

Now adding another feather to his Professionalism, the Guzaarish star was seen on the first day of shoot of yesteryear’s remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Agneepath” provided he was not necessary for the shoot on the concerned day. Entire unit on the location was dazzled to see the star’s presence wondering whether he had any scenes to shoot but eventually came to know that he came to see how thing’s are panning out.

Sources revealed that Roshan Jr was seen showing keen interest on what’s happening in the location. Agneepath star’s Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Rishi Kapoor in the lead and is produced by Dharma Productions. Certainly Roshan Jr surprises everybody, one or the other day with his professionalism. Any body listening?

Kareena to pay tribute to Sridevi

Actress Kareena Kapoor is going to perform at the Global Indian film and Television honors [GIFTH] ceremony that would be hosted by Balaji telefilms on 12 February in Mumbai. 

The ceremony will see the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor to perform at the event and she is also slated to pay tribute to the evergreen actress Sridevi through her dance numbers. This would be Kareena’s second performance with in a gap of two weeks after she performed at the recently concluded filmfare awards ceremony.

Manish Malhotra, Bollywood’s favorite designer is set to arrange a grand costume for the “Kurbaan” actress. The bread pakoda boy, Ranveer Singh of Band Baaja Baarat is also slated to perform at the awards night and Manish is also working on his costumes. Confirming this on his twitter page, Manish tweeted “Kareena pays tribute to Sridevi at the upcoming Balaji awards, both are my favorite actresses”.

The event would be televised in colors on 27 Feb. Looks like we got something more from Kareena and Ranveer after their rocking performances at Filmfare.

Vidya not baring all for Hussain's painting

Vidya Balan has not agreed to expose for a painting for acclaimed artist M.F. Hussain, says a close friend of the actress.

"The story is fabricated to damage her reputation and it hasn't gone down well with the actress who has always maintained a dignified stance both in her personal and professional life," said the friend.

Hussain finds Vidya's persona especially her face very sensual and cultured and a newspaper reported that she will bare all for his painting.

But Vidya, who will feature in Ekta Kapoor's "Dirty Pictures", has always maintained she would take up projects only with an aesthetic sense.

"The news is absolutely hysterical. We are in the month of February and not April. Vidya has always maintained a dignified image and is one of the most respected stars in the industry. The reports are fabricated by parties with vested interests and if ever Vidya does decide to get a painting done, it will strictly be her face. Hope this puts an end to the speculation," said the friend.

Madhavan’s toughest role till now

Actor Madhavan is feeling goose bumps in his stomach off late. The reason being his anticipated release with Kangana Ranaut, Tanu Weds Manu on February 25. In the film Maddy plays the role of a NRI doctor from London who is in India to marry a homely girl, Tanu [Kangana Ranaut] after his parent’s pressurize him to get married.

Whereas Tanu’s role in the film is complete opposite to Maddy. She is an extrovert who loves to ride bikes, loves to dance and sing, drinks neat shots and add to it she sports a tattoo in the film. Maddy falls for her in the first sight itself.

Maddy’s last outing at the Bollywood box-office was Teen Patti which didn’t lived up to the expectations. The “Rang De Basanti” actor confirms that it his toughest role [as Manu in Tanu Weds Manu] till date. The film, according to the actor has more drama and romance than comedy.

We wonder whether it’s a publicity stunt from the actor after all he played great roles in Tamil Yuva, 3 idiots, Mumbai Meri Jaan etc, but we trust you Maddy as you said it.

Lage Raho Munnabhai Pair to be paired again

It seems like our Bollywood is going retro off late. Hema Malini’s roles are preferred over other yesteryear heroines. Vidya Balan is set to reprieve Hemaji’s character in new version of soon to be Started Satte pe Satta opposite Sanjay Dutt. After Katrina was roped in to reprieve Hemaji’s classic dual role in Seeta aur Geeta, it was the turn of Vidya to repeat Hemaji this time around.

Role played by Hemaji in Satte pa Satta was Indu, a nurse who eventually marries Amitabh after falling in love with him. The director of the new to be filmed Satte pa Satta Soham, wanted someone who looks suitable for Dutt and who can carry the role as Hemaji did. Well, the one name that would have come to his mind was Vidya and after Dutt giving a nod to his decision she was roped in.

Vidya is known for her versatility. Her performances offate put her mettle in Bollywood. She already has a film in which she is playing the role of real life item girl from south Indian film industry, Silk Smitha. Way to go Vidya, we all know who would be pulling off Hemaji better.

Abhishek's wife, friends to give him a surprise birthday treat

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, who is currently shooting in New Zealand for Abbas Mastan's "Players", is in for a surprise birthday treat Saturday as wife Aishwarya and his friends are planning to visit his sets and take him out for some thrilling adventure sports.

Abhishek's friends will be flying down to New Zealand to indulge him in his favorite adventure sports.

The sources said, the friends and Aishwarya have planned an entire day of bungee jumping, white water rapids and zorbing since Abhishek is a complete adventure junkie.

"Abhishek‘s friends plan to fly down to New zealand where he is shooting to surprise him. Abbas Mastan have decided to give the unit a break and celebrate his birthday in a big way. Since he loves adventure sports but hasn't got the time to indulge in them thanks to his hectic schedule his friends decided to surprise him and have booked an entire day of interesting activities," a source said.

Abhishek, who will celebrate his 35th birthday tomorrow began his career with J.P. Dutta's "Refugee" (2000). He then went on to give a string poorly received films, but his performances in "Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon" (2003) and Mani Ratnam's "Yuva" (2004) proved his mettle as an actor.

The same year, he starred in "Dhoom" his first commercial hit and in 2005, Abhishek, shot to fame with four movies that did well commercially - "Bunty Aur Babli", "Sarkar", "Dus", and "Bluffmaster".

In 2007, the actor starred in "Guru", receiving much acclaim for his performance, and the film emerged as his first solo hit. Later he went on to films like "Sarkar Raj", "Dostana", "Delhi-6" and "Paa" among others.

The actor has a full kitty this year with four films "Game", "Dum Maro Dum", "Players" and "Bol Bachchan".

Priyanka plays peacemaker between Krushna, Kashmera

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has stepped in to make peace between long-time celebrity couple Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah as the two tried solving their love issues on UTV Bindass' reality show "Love Lockup".

Krushna, who recently participated in dance show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4", has been dating Kashmera for nearly five years. But the two have apparently been having tough times together now. So, they decided to enter "Love Lockup" and set things right.

According to a source, Priyanka shared some pertinent tips about love. She talked about how great relationships come into people's lives rarely and how these must be cherished.

"Love Lockup" offers couples struggling to stay in a relationship a chance to work on it, and test if they can live together.

The special episodes featuring Krushna, Kashmera as well as Priyanka will be shown in two parts Feb 12-13.

Shahid Kapoor to fly in F 16 for 'Mausam'

After playing a bookie in "Kaminey", now Shahid Kapoor will be seen as a pilot in "Mausam" and the actor is excited about flying in an F 16 fighter jet for the role.

"It is a huge honour and privilege and at the same time probably the coolest thing I've done yet in life... I am super excited about it," said Shahid in a statement.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise flew in a F 15 for his role in "Top Guns".

"Mausam" is the directorial debut of his father, actor Pankaj Kapoor. The film stars Sonam Kapoor in the female lead and some parts have been shot in Scotland.

'Dhoom' great franchise to be part of, says 'villain' Aamir

Aamir Khan is excited to play villain in "Dhoom 3". The superstar Wednesday said "Dhoom" was a great franchise to work in even though he initially didn't think he would fit in.

"I have recently signed 'Dhoom 3'. I liked the script very much. When I had watched 'Dhoom', I liked it a lot. I enjoyed the music and the whole attitude. It's a very fun film. I really liked it. I never thought I would fit in this kind of film," Aamir told reporters at a press meet here.

Victor Acharya[Vijay krishna Acharya], who wrote "Dhoom" and "Dhoom 2" is the writer-director of "Dhoom 3". The earlier installments were directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and starred Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

"When I heard the story from Victor, I really enjoyed it. Very well-written script, very enjoyable. It's a great franchise and I am happy to be part of it. I am also looking forward to work with Abhishek and Uday," Aamir said.

"It's true that for the first time I'm doing a negative role, an anti-hero in the mainstream film. I liked my role and all the characters are very well-written. Actually, in between I did another negative role in an offbeat film '1947 Earth'," said Aamir.

"I have worked with Yash Raj and I have a very comfortable relation with them," he said.

The actor said Victor and producer Aditya Chopra are yet to decide the actress opposite him.

While "Dhoom" starred John Abraham as villain, "Dhoom 2" saw Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai sizzle too.

Victor Acharya's debut "Tashan" (2008) fared badly at the box office but that didn't deter Aamir from signing his film.

"I think he is a very talented director. One shouldn't decide a director's capacity with the fate of any one of his films. I have full faith in him," Aamir said.

Vidya in bolder avatar in 'Dirty Picture'

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan says the audience will see her in a "bolder avatar" in the upcoming movie "Dirty Picture".

"It doesn't get bolder than this," said Vidya.

The movie is based on the life of Silk Smitha, one of the most popular sex sirens of the mid eighties in the South Indian film industry. She was known for her bold roles and skimpy outfits.

The shooting of the film is set to start soon.

Riding high on the success of her last film "No One Killed Jessica", Vidya feels playing Silk Smitha on screen is very interesting as there are no similarities between the two women.

"I have to work hard to portray the character of Silk Smitha because there is no similarity between us. It is really interesting that you play a character, which is totally different from you. I am very excited," Vidya told reporters Wednesday on the sidelines of the launch of a book penned by film producer Pritish Nandy.

"Dirty Picture" will also have Nasseeruddin Shah sharing screen space opposite Vidya. The two had been paired opposite each other in "Ishqiya".

We already know how much bold you can get for your roles, but we"ll wait for this one Vidya.

BIPS back in news for wrong reasons

Bollywood’s perfect shaped lady is back in the news. After much speculation about her alleged non -existing relationship with her long time muscular boy friend, John Abraham, the sexy lady’s photo on the Maxim edition has received flak from Advocate Nisar Mohammad. The latter lodged a compliant against the “Raaz “star in a magistrate’s court, Bhopal alleging that the picture was obscene.

Maxim’s cover page edition showcases Bipasha in a side profile with perfect hairdo, sultry expression and beautiful curves. She bares it at all till waist. The bombshell known for such photo shoots is yet to respond to it. At the end of the day, one thing’s for sure that Maxim is certainly getting the publicity that they needed and eventually one won’t be disappointed after going thru the magazine. We know Bips, you certainly won’t disappoint anyone.

The complaint is told to be heard on February 15 by the Chief judicial Magistrate.
