Shahid, the only person Priyanka Chopra thought of during raid

The sudden income tax raid at her residence in Mumbai's Versova area and the presence of actor Shahid Kapoor there was a double whammy for actress Priyanka Chopra.
The actress, however, declined any tax evasion, and said because Shahid stays at a stone's throw from her house, he was the only person she could think of in such an unfortunate situation.
"The only person who stays with me is my mom, who was not present at home and Shahid stays three minutes away from my place. So he was the only person I could call up then. So he was there," Priyanka told reporters at a press conference here Monday night.
When asked about the reported discovery of Rs.6 crore from her residence, she said: "My CA (chartered accountant) has given an official statement regarding that and personally my spokesperson has given you an official statement. It's shocking the way unsubstantiated news is making rounds as authentic news."
"You believe in rumours when they run it as front-page news, without checking its authenticity. Neither you ask the accused person whether the allegations are true or not, nor do you substantiate it with any paper work."
"I had never experienced anything like this before. Whatever happened has deeply hurt me and deeply affected me. I have already said whatever I had to say and we have continuously cooperated with the investigating authorities."
"As far as the discovery of Rs.6 crore from my house, neither I had so much of money under my mattress nor I have seen so much of money together in my life," she said.
The media then wanted to know even as she is one of the highest taxpaying actors in Bollywood, why did she come under the income tax scanner.
"As people say that it happens with big stars. I still feel proud that I am counted among the few highest tax paying bollywood stars and hope to be so as long God continues to give me the opportunity," Priyanka said.

Big B hopes peace returns in Egypt

As the anti-government protests rage on in Egypt, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan reminisces about his stay in the beautiful country of pyramids and hopes it "all comes to an end soon and in peace".
"I see incredible scenes of violence and disruption on television about what is happening in Egypt and in particular in Cairo and feel so sad that this beautiful country and city and its warm and hospitable people should all come to such condition," Big B posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com Saturday.
"All my visits there have been so memorable and full of so many happy times. When shooting in Cairo for 'The Great Gambler' in 1975, they did not know anything about Indian films and actors. On the streets, if India was mentioned it was always ‘Nehru' - their known association with him and their own president (Gamal Abdel) Nasser and the relationship that they enjoyed," he added.
Big B also mentioned how the success of "Great Gambler" and "Mard" in Egypt changed the perception of Indian cinema in the land of sand and sun.
"Something between the ‘Great Gambler' shoot and ‘Mard', which was a colossal success in Egypt in particular, had changed the perception of Indian cinema in this historic land and I had fortunately become the receiver of the love and affection that they had been holding on to for so many years," he posted.
"There are many visitors from India that go across on holidays to this land of the pyramids and come back with such glorious stories of the association the Egyptians still have for me and I am touched and feel so blessed. And so it saddens me even more to see the anger and discomfort that they go through now and I hope fervently that it all comes to an end soon and in peace," he added.

I was very scared of Rishi Kapoor initially: Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma reveals she was initially scared to shoot with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor with whom she shares the screen in her latest film "Patiala House".
"His (Rishi's) demeanor was such that he was very intimidating. But I realised that actually he is a very cool person. He cracks lots of jokes and used to keep pulling my leg all the time," Anushka said in an interview.
"Later on, the ice was broken, but initially I was very scared because he comes across as a very strict person," she added.
With three successful films under her belt, Anushka is happy to claim that she is regarded as a bankable actor.
"After 'Band Baaja Baaraat', people are viewing me differently. I have been seen as a bankable actor. So, a lot of good things, a lot of appreciation. I am feeling comfortable in the industry," she said.
"Band Baaja Baaraat" completes her three-film contract with Yash Raj Films that gave her the first break opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" in 2008 and then her role in "Badmaash Company".
For "Band Baaja Baarat", Anushka shared the best actress trophy at the Apsara Awards 2011 with Vidya Balan, who won it for "Ishqiya".
The model-turned actress consciously avoids to be typecast and feels lucky that she got to do distinctly different characters in all the four films, including "Patiala House", she has done so far.
"Right after my first film, I went and signed 'Badmaash Company', which was right opposite of my debut character," Anushka said.
"That was exciting because I know my value and I know that I am capable of doing a lot more. So I only choose and work with people who have faith in my capabilities as an actor," she added.
"I don't want to work with people who would take me in an easy way and cast me in something which I have done before. So far I am lucky that I have worked with people who have given me different kinds of films," she added.
Asked what exactly she looks at while choosing a film, the actress said: "When I read a script, the first thing I see is whether I would be watching this film and be entertained."
"Then I see my role in the film. Is it challenging enough? Is it going to make any difference in my career?" she added.
The 22-year old trusted the same instincts while signing "Patiala House", where she plays actor Akshay Kumar's muse.
Directed by Nikhil Advani, "Patiala House" shows how a second-generation Sikh Guttu (Akshay Kumar) and his siblings in London held back their dreams out of love and respect for their authoritarian father (Rishi Kapoor).
But Guttu meets Simran (Anushka) who gives him the strength to stand up once again to fulfil his dream.
This cross-generation drama is about second chances.
Anushka personally never had to bear any such family obligation while either choosing modelling or acting as a profession. But she said she could easily relate to it.
"I wanted to be a model, my parents were okay with that. I wanted to be an actor, my parents were okay with that too. That way, I have been lucky. But I know someone who has (strict parents) so I can empathise and relate to it," she said.
Working with Akshay was a learning experience for Anushka.
"He is super professional. He does very small, small things, which are subtle and funny. That is something I learnt from him - to be aware of small things, not only of big things," the actress said.

Madhuri is like lady Michael Jackson: Remo D'Souza

He loves her grace, her precision and her moves. Choreographer Remo D'Souza, who worships only late King of Pop Michael Jackson after Jesus Christ, says "Madhuri (Dixit) is like lady MJ".
"I have always been very fond of Madhuri. I love almost all of her songs and her dance is incomparable. Today's actresses don't come close to her dance and expressions. She is so flexible, so emotive - for me, she is completely like lady Michael Jackson," Remo said.
Just as he picked up the art of dancing by watching Jackson's videos, Remo also tried to emulate Madhuri's filmy steps.
"Once, very long time back, I had to train one girl for a competition...that time I learnt all of Madhuri's steps in 'Ek do teen' to teach the girl. Madhuri was fabulous in it. But my favourite song featuring her is 'Humko aajkal hai' from the film 'Sailaab'," he said.
Remo vied for many years to meet Madhuri - in studios, at film shootings and screenings, but his big chance came when he was asked to share the stage with her as the judge of Sony TV's "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4".
"I was overjoyed on meeting Madhuri. She has been my favourite all through," said the choreographer, who feels Prabhu Deva and Hrithik Roshan are the only two Indian male stars, who can dance like MJ.
Now the hip-hop specialist has a wish to make Madhuri and Hrithik dance to his tunes.
"I feel Hrithik will do complete justice to my style of dancing. There aren't too many actors who can dance well...he is the best among the current lot," he said.
Well, it would be a eye-feast to see Hrithik and Madhuri shaking legs at a time. Any director's listening?
